"What is the use of economics if I can't help the poor?' says Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. Leaving behind a job in the United States, Mr Yunus moved back to Bangladesh in 1971 to do something for the poor in his country. He was moved by how people were falling victims to 'loan sharks' who were taking away everything that the poorest of the citizens had. That forced him to form the Grameen Bank which was purely for the poor and to empower them to do something on their own. He is also the man who gave a phone to millions of Bangladeshis through his next venture the Grameen Phone. "Many surprises, many lessons learnt on my journey," is how he puts the journey of his life.
