"Common people on both sides were victims", says Kishore Kuvavala, referring to the 1993 Mumbai Blasts of which he was a victim. Talking about the Mumbai riots which preceded the blasts, Farooq Mapkar a victim of those riots says that they were politically motivated and not by either Hindus or Muslims. Both these victims recount their tales of horror during these troubled times in Mumbai, and echo the view that it wasn't the communities that needed to be blamed as the perpetrators were only a select few and that Mumbai was in panic. Common people, both Muslims and Hindus have helped each other to heal the scars of these ghastly incidents. Reflecting on the recent deliberations over Yakub Memon's hanging, Mr Mapkar says that hanging him was not revenge and that his sentence should've been commuted to life to which Mr Kishore Kuvavala disagrees but both concur that the wait was painful and this case should've been fast-tracked.
