Tiruchipalli:

State-owned Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation (TANTEA), which currently sells tea in ginger, lemon and elaichi flavours, plans to soon launch the beverage in mint flavour, a company official said today.

TANTEA had recently introduced white tea and green tea pearls in the market.

"We are in talks with the state government to distribute products through Public Distribution System, Co-Operative Super Markets and Aavin booths across the state," AS Jafry, Additional Chief Principal Conservator of Forest and TANTEA Managing Director told PTI.

However, he did not divulge the timeline for the launch of the mint-flavoured tea.

Mr Jafry said the company manages around 20 of the 400 retail outlets across the state, while others are handled by retailers.

Going forward, the company would focus on increasing its retail network, he added.

"TANTEA is ready to appoint retail dealers as well as wholesalers in major towns on nominal non-refundable deposit," said J Ignatius, Marketing Manager.
