Chennai: DMK, today, asked the Narendra Modi Government to 'generously' withdraw its controversial Land Bill in the wake of all-round criticism, including from its own allies.

DMK President M Karunanidhi said most political parties, social activists and even BJP allies had strongly opposed it.

"But the government for some reason is persistent in bringing it. It will be appropriate for the government to generously withdraw it considering the opposition," he said answering a set of queries in party mouthpiece 'Murasoli.'

On Centre hiking the interest rates on crop loans offered by banks to 11 per cent, he said considering the welfare of farmers "who are already facing many difficulties," it should be reverted to the original nine per cent and also demanded that the loan subsidy be restored.
