Officer Gets Call About Storage Unit. Inside, An 11-Foot Python

The Burmese python was found in a storage facility on Highway 421 in North Carolina, US

On Saturday, Chatham County animal control officer Thomas Kelly Rouse got a call about a snake on the loose. The officer said such calls are common this time of the year and they are usually about snakes at most 3-foot-long. But when he reached the venue, he was shocked to see the size of the reptile.

"This time of year we typically get calls for a snake in a house and they might say it is 6 feet long but it will be about 3 feet at most," he told newsobserver.com.

It was an 11-foot-long Burmese albino python, "by far the largest snake" he ever caught.

"There's no means as far as a snake trap you could capture it in," he said.

Officer Rouse was accompanied by off-duty officer Kelsey Pepper to search the snake which was found in a storage facility on Highway 421 in North Carolina, US.

Officer Pepper who assisted in the rescue said the 75-pound-snake was "very docile" but they managed to pick it up just behind its head.

Photos of the animal control officers posing cheerfully with the snake were posted on Facebook.

The snake was taken to the CCSB Reptile Rescue and Rehab in Kernersville and the centre is currently looking for its owner, failing which they will put up the python up for adoption.Click for more trending news
