Microsoft Sends Cringe-Worthy Invite to 'Bae Interns,' Then Apologizes

The invite sent to interns from Microsoft.

Highlights

  • The email seems to be the most awkward invitation ever
  • It was addressed to 'hey bae interns', followed by a heart emoticon
  • Microsoft has now apologized, calling it poorly worded
Are you a 'bae intern' looking to 'get lit' with 'hella noms' and 'lots of dranks'? Yes? No? What?

If you're scratching your head right about now, wondering what the above gibberish means, read further.

In what appears to be the most awkward and questionably worded invitation ever, a Microsoft recruiter actually sent out emails to interns asking them to 'hang' with the company's crew at the Internapalooza, a gathering for interns, being held on July 11 in San Francisco. We're not kidding.

Microsoft has now apologized.

The email, addressed to "hey bae interns" and followed by a heart emoticon, first mentions the event and then, "more importantly," invites said bae interns to an after party at their San Francisco office. As if using the teen-lingo wasn't exciting enough, they even mention "breaking out the Yammer beer pong tables!"

Seriously, can you even say no to this?

Hell, yes. The picture was tweeted by user Patrick Burtchaell on July 6 and has since gone viral with more than 3,000 retweets and over 5,000 'likes.'

If you think this was a hoax or a someone's idea of a joke - no, no, you're sadly mistaken. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed the invite was real to Gizmodo.com, saying: "The email was poorly worded and not in keeping with our values as a company. We are looking into how this occurred and will take appropriate steps to address it."

Dear Microsoft, did no one tell you what happens when you try so absurdly hard? Here are some tweets to help you:
