Udyan Express Derails At Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

Mumbai: Two-wheel trolleys of the engine of CST Mumbai-Bengaluru Udyan Express today derailed at a cross over point after its departure from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus resulting in disruption of suburban rail services.

No casualties were reported in the incident after the departure of the train from platform number 17 at 8.14 am. However, down and up fast lines of suburban services were diverted on down and up slow lines, respectively, a statement issued by Central Railway said.

Due to the bunching effect, suburban trains were delayed by 20-30 minutes on the main line.

General Manager, Central Railways, GC Agrawal, along with Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, Amitabh Ojha and others rushed to the spot after receiving the information following which restoration work was started immediately.

Restoration process was on and services on down fast line were resumed at 9.04 am with the up fast line resuming services from 10.15 am, it said.

Due to the derailment, 12534 CST-Lucknow Pushpak Express departed at 9.20 am, an hour late from its scheduled departure, while 11029 CST-Kolhapur Koyna Express at 8.40 am instead of its scheduled departure at 9.26 am.
