70 'Gold' Biscuits Seized From Sealdah Station, 3 Arrested

Kolkata: Three persons were arrested and 70 alleged gold biscuits seized from them at the busy Sealdah station as they were about to board a Delhi-bound train, an Eastern Railway media release said on Monday.

Acting on information regarding transshipment of gold biscuits from Sealdah to New Delhi Railway station, the special task force of Railway Protection Force, Sealdah detained three persons from platform number 9A/B before they could board the train on Sunday.

When their belongings were searched, 70 yellow coloured metal biscuits were found from their possession.

"Two of the biscuits were verified by the Bureau of Indian Standards authorised testing centre and declared as gold. The Customs department was informed simultaneously for further action," the release said.

The three were taken into custody and produced at the Sealdah Court.
