Tamil Nadu Police Escorted Bengaluru Man To Safety. His Post Is Now Viral

The police cars continued their pilot duty until the little convoy entered Karnataka safely.

After angry protests and violence over the Cauvery water dispute, a Bengaluru man's heartening post about the Tamil Nadu police escorting Karnataka cars for more than 350 km to safety has resonated with thousands on Facebook.

Since Sunday, the post has gathered over 40,000 reactions and almost 19,000 shares on the social networking site.

In his post, Joyal Bindu writes about the "exemplary display of chivalry, dedication, sincerity and security towards the general citizens."

The incident took place when Mr Bindu was travelling back to Bangalore from Kerala after his Onam holidays. He was at the Madurai bypass in Tamil Nadu when a woman constable told him that a police car would escort him since his car had a Karnataka number plate.

Vehicles were attacked and burnt during protests in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over the river dispute.

"For me it didn't make sense what she said. Escort a common citizen on the highway by the Police!!?? I parked aside; soon 2 more KA registered cars joined and the motorcade from Madurai started at 10:00am," he says on Facebook.

Mr Bindu thought the police would only escort them until they crossed Madurai. "But No! A relay of at least 7-8 Police Cabs with personnel took over from various check-posts to usher us safely on the highway. From a convoy of 4 vehicles we were in total of 16 vehicles by the end of day," he writes.

The police cars continued their pilot duty until the little convoy crossed Tamil Nadu and entered Karnataka safely. Mr Bindu reached Bengaluru by 9 pm.

He talks about feeling grateful but say the pilot vehicle drove off before he could thank the cops.

"A closely monitored and controlled police escort for common citizens for over a distance of 350 kms! Oh goodness me, it should be a joke, but hell no! May God Bless them with more power and bless our country with such zealous people for law and order," Mr Bindu posts.
