Terrorist Killed In An Encounter In Jammu And Kashmir's Sopore

Police sources say at least two terrorists are holed up in a residential house and heavy gunfight is still going on.

Srinagar: One terrorist was killed in an ongoing encounter with security forces at Bomia village in Sopore town in north Jammu and Kashmir.

Encounter started when the Army and police launched a joint operation after they received a tip off about the presence of two terrorists in the village situated in Sopore town of Baramulla district.

"One terrorist has been killed in the encounter. Operation is going on," said an Army spokesman.

Police sources say at least two terrorists are holed up in a residential house and heavy gunfight is still going on.

Yesterday, four terrorists were killed during a major gun battle in Tangdhar sector in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district after Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control. An Army soldier was also killed in the firing. This is was second infiltration attempt foiled by the Army along the Line of Control in last three days.
