PV Sindhu, Coach Gopichand Reach Hyderabad, Travel On Open Double-Decker Bus

Olympic silver meadllist PV Sindhu and coach P Gopichand travel on a double-decker bus.

Hyderabad: Rio 2016 Olympic Silver medalist PV Sindhu was received at home in Hyderabad today by a decked up, open deck double-decker bus sent by Mumbai's BEST.

The BEST, which runs the public bus services for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad, had dispatched one of its best -- Nilambari Bus -- which received Ms Sindhu and her coach Pullela Gopichand at the airport.

"Telangana government had requested the bus for receiving them and carrying out a victory rally in Hyderabad today (Monday)," a government spokesperson said.

The BEST sent a Nilambari open-deck double-decker from Mumbai to Hyderabad on Sunday morning along with a team of drivers and maintenance staff.

After travelling around 1,600 kms, the bus reached Hyderabad late on Sunday evening, and was readied to receive Ms Sindhu and Mr Gopichand from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

BrihanMumbai Electric Supply & Transport Chairman Jagdish Patil said: "It was an honour to be part of the celebrations."

"Congratulatory wishes shall be given to Ms Sindhu by the team on behalf of BEST and a poster to that effect shall be displayed on the bus," Mr Patil said.

Ms Sindhu is the first woman in India to win an Olympic Silver Medal.
