Indore: The Madhya Pradesh government is reviewing a decision to allow citizens whose annual income is over Rs 10 lakh to keep 100 liquor bottles at their place for consumption as per the new excise policy, state Finance Minister Jayant Malayia said on Thursday.

"After getting a feedback from our officers, we will review the exemption given to the tax payers having over Rs 10 lakh annual income," Mr Malayia said at a review meeting of Excise Department in Indore.

Under Madhya Pradesh new excise policy, tax payers whose annual income is above Rs 10 lakh were free to keep 100 liquor bottles at their place for consumption after permission (license) for Rs 10,000 from the concerned department.

"The state government will impose social responsibility duty on liquor sale", he said, adding that the Excise Department, instead of Commercial Tax Department, will realise entertainment tax.
