Mumbai: The Mumbai sessions court, which is hearing the 2002 hit-and-run trial involving actor Salman Khan, today said that it will announce the judgment in the 13 year-old case on May 6.

The trial came to an end after both - the prosecution and the defense lawyers - concluded their arguments.

The 49-year-old actor has been accused of killing one person and injuring four by ramming his car into a bakery in September 2002. He has been charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

If convicted, Mr Khan faces a sentence of up to ten years in jail.

In his first and only statement before the court last month, the actor said that he was not driving the SUV that ran over people sleeping on a pavement, his driver Ashok Singh was.

Mr Khan, who admitted to having visited a bar with his brother Sohail Khan before the accident, claims that he only drank water and did not order any cocktails.
