Have You Seen This Terror Suspect? Uttarakhand Releases CCTV Footage

The grab from the CCTV footage showing suspects

Dehradun: Terrorists may have sneaked into Uttarakhand's Dehradun, a five-hour drive from Delhi, the police have said, releasing CCTV footage of the possible suspects.

The police have not revealed the source of the footage, which has been released on WhatsApp along with an appeal to people to help identify the suspect.

The clip, timed at 11.25 pm on Monday, shows a group of men on a street, their faces masked with cloth. It is not known whether all the men are terror suspects.

Uttarakhand Police Chief BS Sidhu said: "There is a group of eight men moving in the region. One was seen in Dehradun late Monday night."

The police are hunting for the suspects across the hill state and have also roped in the Delhi Police.

"For a long time has been a proxy war against India. I am confident of my security forces," said Chief Minister Harish Rawat, adding that the police were coordinating with his administration.

Earlier this month, four suspects linked to the terror group ISIS were arrested from Roorkee, for allegedly planning an attack on a religious gathering, the Ardhkumbh mela, in Haridwar.

Two al Qaeda suspects were arrested in Jamshedpur in Jharkhand on Monday.

Security forces across the country have been on high alert after an assessment by intelligence agencies that terror groups may strike major cities on or around Republic Day. More than 15 suspects were arrested in a national crackdown before the celebration.
