Father of Vyapam Scam Accused Seeks CBI Probe into His Death

Narendra Singh Tomar, an accused in the MPPEB scam, died in an Indore jail on Saturday night.

Morena, Madhya Pradesh: The father of Narendra Singh Tomar, an accused in the high-profile MPPEB scam who died on Saturday, demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation or CBI probe into the death.
     
Mr Tomar (29), a government veterinarian, had been arrested in February this year on the charge of helping a student from Jhabua in cracking the 2009 Pre-Medical Test through fraudulent means.
     
His father Kailash Singh Tomar today demanded a CBI probe and alleged that the police officer Ajay Jain had demanded Rs 7 lakh from Narendra and on failure to pay he was framed in the MPPEB scam and tortured.
     
Narendra's body was cremated at his native place Parosa area in the district amid police presence on Tuesday.

Narendra is the 24th accused in the MPPEB scam who died an unnatural death.

The Vyapam case, which came to light in 2013, is a massive admission and recruitment scandal involving politicians, bureaucrats and middlemen. Several politicians including former Education minister Laxmikant Sharma, a host of officials and scores of aspirants have been arrested in the case.
