Dad Jailed In Saudi Arabia, Girl Tweeted SOS To Sushma Swaraj. It Helped.

Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj recently helped a young girl have a happy Father's Day after responding to her distress call on Twitter. In several tweets, Rukmini Shankar, who recently graduated class 10, wrote to the minister asking for help when her father was allegedly taken into police custody after an accident in Saudi Arabia.
 
According to a Facebook post shared by a family friend, Rukmini's father Shankarkumarsingh Jha ran into trouble in Saudi Arabia after "an accident which resulted into the death of a person there". Mr Jha had been posted as an assistant professor of finance at the University of Hail and his daughter had accompanied him for her summer vacation.
 
 
 


It was after this incident that Rukmini reached out to the Indian Embassy and the foreign affairs minister on June 18.
 
After many tweets from Rukmini and several others on Twitter, Ms Swaraj replied to the girl, promising action:
 
It's unclear how the matter was finally resolved but a day later Rukmini shared the news of her father's release.
 
Ms Swaraj replied to Rukmini's happy news and even promised help to all Indians:
 
This isn't the first time Ms Swaraj has responded to those seeking her help on Twitter. She earlier helped Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra when his coach had lost his passport in  in Cologne, Germany and even helped 17-year-old Mashal Maheshwari with her medical entrance.
