Civilian Killed in Pakistan Firing as Forces Stop Infiltration in Jammu

Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir: A 20-year-old man was killed in firing by Pakistani troops this morning as two terrorists were stopped from crossing over to Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The Border Security Force (BSF) claims that the terrorists were seen at night and early this morning near the International Border in Kanachak; they were hiding behind thick vegetation.

Indian soldiers fired at them.

Later at around 5 am, Pakistan Rangers started shelling and firing at a dozen border outposts in the Pargwal and Kanachak sectors.

This is the second ceasefire violation by Pakistan in less than 48 hours.

Firing is still on. The Pakistan Rangers used small arms and mortars. Personnel of the Border Security Force returned fire with equal intensity.

On Sunday night, Pakistani troops fired at posts in four different sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in heavy crossfire.

There have been 19 ceasefire violations along the India-Pakistan border in July in which four persons, including three jawans, were killed and 14 others were injured.

There have been eight violations just in the last week.
