Bihar's Political Script Being Written by PM Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar Tells NDTV: Highlights

JD(U) leader, and former chief minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar during an exclusive interview with NDTV's Barkha Dutt

New Delhi:

After admitting that he made a mistake in choosing Jitan Ram Manjhi to succeed him as Chief Minister of Bihar, JD(U) leader and former chief minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar spoke exclusively with NDTV's Barkha Dutt.

Here are the highlights of his interview:

  • BJP is playing the caste card, the mahadalit card  in Bihar.
  • RJD, Congress and CPI are supporting the JDU. The BJP hasn't declared openly who it is supporting.
  • It all started after Jitan Ram Manjhi met the Prime Minister.
  • We're saying this on the basis of circumstantial evidence.
  • If you speak to the MLAs you'll know what is happening, BJP is working behind the scenes in Bihar.
  • MLAs are being lured with berths and Rs 1 crore each.
  • It is clear where the script is being written.
  • I'm speaking on the basis of circumstantial evidence. Whatever Mr Manjhi said after that meeting in the press conference that is exactly what is happening.
  • When Jitan Ram Manjhi met the Prime Minister, even a picture  wasn't released as is customary. Why so?
  • Didn't want to be a rubber stamp chief minister. I left on the basis of my sentiment.
  • This is a design to encourage horse trading. How can Jitan Manjhi  be chief minister with just 12 MLAs?
  • I'm not making allegations against the Governor. I respect the office of the Governor. But he didn't need to say all that he did.
  • We want a floor test. We're questioning the time frame that has been set. It should have been done sooner.
  • Who'll check the financial implications of the decisions being taken right now? Whose government is in power right now?
  • Bihar's events are unfolding on the basis of PM Modi's direction.
