Bihar Examination Scam: 5 People Arrested By Special Task Force

Highlights

  • 2 principals, a teacher and 2 employees of Bihar Exam Board held
  • Class XII Arts, Science toppers didn't know basics about the subject
  • A re-exam was ordered for the two toppers
Patna: Five people have been arrested in the Bihar examination scam, which had drawn media glare earlier this month.

The list includes two principals of institutions where the exams were held, a teacher and two employees of the exam board.

However, former Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and Bishun Rai College principal Bachha Rai, the lead player in the examination scam, are still missing.

The case is being investigated by a Special Task Force formed for the purpose.

"The process to include names of the two absconding persons in the FIR is currently underway and they will be arrested as there are ample evidence against them," said Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna, Manu Maharaj.

Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh resigned as BSEB chairman on Wednesday after noose started tightening around him in the scandal.

A police case has also been registered against the students whose performance was found unsatisfactory in a second exam held for the toppers of the Plus-Two exams.

Ruby Rai, 17, who topped Bihar's Class 12 exams in the Arts stream, had said political science, a subject she virtually aced, teaches cooking.  Another student from her junior or intermediate college, who placed as Bihar's Science topper, was not able to answer elementary questions like the link between water and H20.

The students were interviewed by local channels after their results were declared.
