Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's latest radio message warns people against "poisonous politicians," while making an appeal for communal harmony.
He refers to the murder by a mob of a Muslim man over a
cow slaughter rumour in Bishada, an Uttar Pradesh village about 30 km from Delhi last week, and also the
arrest of several young men of the village for the murder.
Mr Kejriwal tweeted the message this morning,
In his message, Mr Kejriwal has asked how a village that lived in perfect harmony for 70 years, "with not even children fighting," has been torn apart by communal violence and has cautioned, without naming any political party, "Please do not be influenced by what poisonous politicians say. It is very easy for them to stoke communal tension but if we do not get influenced by them, their dirty politics will end."
The chief of Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party has also appealed to the media not to report provocative comments made by politicians.
Mr Kejriwal, who visited the
Dadri village on October 3, had attacked both the BJP, which rules at the Centre, and the Samajwadi Party which governs Uttar Pradesh.
A day later, a BJP law-maker Sangeet Som visited Bishada and made
controversial comments.
Mr Som is charged with making inflammatory speeches ahead of the deadly 2013 riots in UP's Muzaffanagar and is out on bail.
"Collusion between parties in the state and Centre? What is happening is quite dangerous," Mr Kejriwal had tweeted, also questioning what he called Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the Dadri murder.
"PM's silence almost a tacit approval," he had tweeted.
