Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has directed all agencies concerned to coordinate to ensure smooth conduct of the annual Amarnath Yatra beginning June 29.

The state's Chief Secretary BB Vyas, during a review meeting on the arrangements for smooth conduct of the yatra in Srinagar yesterday, said that all agencies to remain prepared to meet any exigencies arising enroute the pilgrimage, an official spoksperson said.

The meeting was attended by senior civil, police and paramilitary officers.

For smooth flow of information between various agencies, the spokesperson said that Mr Vyas has directed to establish joint control rooms at different identified locations.

He also directed for setting up of a joint check-post of police and CRPF between Ramban and Banihal along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

Superintendent of Police of Ramban has been instructed to coordinate the movement of pilgrims and vehicles along the national highway and start an online monitoring group in this regard, he said.

The spokesperson said that steps were finalised for establishing contingency centres at Banihal and Ramban and timelines were drawn to facilitate hassle-free movement of the pilgrims.

The chief secretary also directed the deputy commissioners of Anantnag and Ganderbal to visit the camp sites to ensure that they are functional. Camp directors have also been properly briefed about their role and responsibility and that the staff associated with duties in the transit camps works as per the duty roster, the spokesman said.
