Aligarh Muslim University to Set Up English-Medium Schools in Uttar Pradesh

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has decided to set up English-medium schools up to intermediate in all districts of Uttar Pradesh by 2017.

AMU's former Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Zameeruddin Shah has constituted a special committee for setting up of such schools in every districts of the state, as part of the university's plans to celebrate bicentennial birth anniversary of its founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in 2017, spokesperson Rahat Abrar said today.

"These schools would be established under the CBSE Board and would be open to children of all communities. Muslim community members would, however, get some reservation as they are still lagging behind in the field of education," Mr Abrar said.

These schools will follow the (education) pattern followed by Christian missionary schools providing modern education in the country, Mr Abrar said, adding, Muslim community was in dire need for modern scientific education.

The first college would start functioning at Jaula village in Muzaffarnagar district from August this year, he said.
