AAP Government Using Issue of Women Safety to Score Political Points: BJP
New Delhi: BJP Mahila Morcha activists today staged a demonstration close to the residence of Delhi Chief
Minister Arvind Kejriwal accusing the AAP government of using the issue of women safety to score political points.

"For the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, women welfare is just an issue to be used for scoring political points. In the last 10 months of power, the Kejriwal government has not initiated a single step for women welfare," Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha President Kamaljeet Sehrawat said.

"Delhi Chief Minister and his lawmakers have till date made no noticeable financial contribution for installation of CCTVs, proving that all their promises towards ensuring women safety is just a lip service. On the other hand, BJP MP Maheish Girri provided Rs 1.57 crore for the purpose," she added.

Condemning women lawmakers of AAP for "conniving" with their leaders, BJP Mahila Morcha General Secretary Rekha Gupta alleged that they were using the issues of women safety and drugs to "deflect" attention from important issues related to public welfare to be discussed in the Assembly.

"It is good to see the women MLAs of AAP showing concern for women dignity for the last two days but where did their tears and concern go when their colleague lawmaker Somnath Bharti's wife was accusing him for domestic violence? Or when he was maligning visiting foreign women as prostitutes?" she asked.

Raising slogans against the AAP government, the Mahila Morcha activists tried to march towards Kejriwal's residence but were stopped by the police.

The Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha said it was holding demonstrations and dharnas in the city to "expose" the Kejriwal government's claims of focusing on women security, in the wake of party lawmaker OP Sharma's alleged "derogatory" remark against an AAP legislator for which he has been suspended from the ongoing Assembly session.
