4 New Cases of Dengue in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu: Four more people have tested positive for dengue in the Jammu region, taking the total number
of patients suffering from the vector-borne disease to 17.

"Four fresh cases of dengue were detected yesterday taking the total number to 17 in the entire Jammu region," Director of Health Services, Jammu, Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania told PTI.

He said a health advisory has been issued by the central government which has been widely published in local dailies to create awareness among people.

A total of 26 samples were tested at Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu yesterday, out of which four cases were tested positive, he said.

A youth in Basohli area of Kathua district was tested positive on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, two children were tested positive for dengue at GMC hospital where blood samples of several people with the dengue symptoms were examined.

Pathania said that people need to take precautions so as to save themselves from mosquito bites. They have also been advised to discard any stagnant water which can become breeding ground for mosquitoes, he added.

"With fresh rainfall, the danger of dengue has increased. Thus, the people are advised to take precautionary measures to save themselves from the disease," he said.
