Unhappy With Exam, Miranda House Student Jumps On Delhi Metro Tracks, Survives

The girl had thrown herself before a metro train at a station in East Delhi.

New Delhi: A student from Miranda House -- one of Delhi's most prestigious colleges -- attempted suicide by jumping onto metro rail tracks this afternoon.

The 20-year-old girl, a final year science student who lives in Noida, had thrown herself before a metro train at East Delhi's IP Extension station.

She has sustained serious injuries and has been taken to a nearby hospital, sources said.

Preliminary inquiries indicated that she had a practical exam today, which didn't go as well as she had expected, said a senior police officer.

The train services were resumed soon after, reported news agency Press Trust of India, quoting railway officials.
