Sashastra Seema Bal Personnel Stabbed to Death by Vagabond

A 27-year-old Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel had to pay with his life when he refused to give money to a vagabond, who then stabbed him to death in Connaught Place area in the heart of the national capital.

The incident took place last evening around 7 pm when the victim, identified as Selvaraj, who was posted as a constable with the 48th battalion in Kashmir took an auto from New Delhi railway station to catch train from Old Delhi Railway Station to join his duty from .

He was returning after a month-long vacation at his residence in Kerala's Malappuram district.

"He asked the driver of the auto-rickshaw to pull over at a spot in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg and gave him some money to
buy him some snacks for the journey.

Meanwhile, a vagabond approached Shilvaraj and asked him for some money to buy liquor. When he refused, the vagabond suddenly attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed him thrice in the abdomen," said a police official.

On returning, the auto-rickshaw driver found Selvaraj
lying in a pool of blood. He made a PCR call and Selvaraj was
rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where he was declared
brought dead.

As police launched a manhunt and scanned the CCTV footage
obtained from the liquor shop, the vagabond was identified as
one Sikandar and he was arrested.

In another incident, a 42-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was allegedly shot at by two men in south-east Delhi's Sangam
Vihar colony around 9.15 PM last night.

The injured auto-rickshaw driver was identified as Santosh Rathore. The accused, identified as Mukesh and Prince, have been arrested. They had allegedly shot at Santosh's nephew Bishambar (25) but the bullet missed the target and hit him.

In his statement, Santosh also told police that the accused youths extort people in nearby areas.
