Delhi University Admission: Over 37,000 Register on Day One

A total of 37,850 students registered for admission to DU's undergraduate courses on the first day of the application process.

New Delhi: A total of 37,850 students registered online for admission to Delhi University's undergraduate courses on the first day of the application process.

"The online registration started at midnight and 37,850 students have registered till 5 PM. As many as 8,791 candidates have already made the payment," a senior varsity official said.

No technical error was reported during the online registration process.

Last year, the varsity's website had crashed on the first day of the online registration and DU has made special arrangements this year to avoid any glitches.

"We have put strong, dedicated servers in place and enough backup servers have also been arranged to ensure that the application process is smooth and there is no inconvenience to aspirants," the official said.

Three teams including the Students Welfare department, DU's Computer Centre and Informatics and Communication (IIC) products and service division are engaged in the admission process.

A total of 54,000 seats in various undergraduate programmes are up for grab. The last date for online registration is June 15 while offline forms will be accepted at nine registration centres from June 5 to June 15.

The Centralised Optical Mark Recognition (OMR)forms are available on Delhi University's website - www.du.ac.in - and students will have to make the payment through internet banking.

The fee for General category students is Rs 100 whereas for SC/ST students the admission form will cost Rs 50. The first cut-off list will be announced on June 25.
