Bag With Rs 1.75 Lakh Cash Causes Bomb Scare At Metro Station

Metro officials said a unclaimed bag with Rs 1.75 lakh was found at Rajouri Garden metro station

New Delhi: A bag with Rs 1.75 lakh in cash, left behind by a lady commuter, caused a bomb scare at a metro station in New Delhi today.

Officials said the incident was reported from Rajouri Garden metro station at about 11.00 am when a CISF jawan spotted the unattended bag at the X-ray baggage scanner.

He immediately informed his superiors and a bomb detection and disposal team was called in.

However, nothing suspicious was found in the bag and the cash too was found to be intact, said officials.

CISF officials later went through the CCTV footage and saw a lady placing the bag for scanning but not picking it up later.

"A public announcement was made and in a few minutes, the lady came back to claim the bag. It was handed over to her after checking the bona fides," said officials.
