Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar today, where he launched a number of government schemes, sharing stage with political rival and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Both of them spoke at the event.

Here are ten big quotes from his speech:

  1. I agree with the good points that Nitishji (Chief minister Nitish Kumar) has made, and I share his pain. Bihar has suffered because of politics.

  2. I had addressed a rally at Patna's Gandhi Maidan, in the midst of bomb blasts, where I made a promise... that we came to power, we would provide a special package for Bihar.

  3. Now I realise that 50,000 crore is not enough... I will not announce it now. I will come at the right time and do it.

  4. There used to be time when 60 per cent of all the funds received by the Centre used to stay in the treasuries in Delhi.

  5. Because of my government's policies, in the next five years or so, Bihar is set to get 3.45 lakh crore rupees under various schemes.

  6. I agree with Nitish Kumar that the work for railways would have been completed if Vajpayee remained in power. But another government came and development work was stopped.

  7. The time for deciding on plans from Delhi is over, now states should set the agenda

  8. We have always endeavoured towards cooperative federalism.

  9. Whether it is roads, rail or air, Bihar should have more of them.

  10. We already have the River Ganga. We will now bring an Urja Ganga (river of energy)  to Bihar.
