Life is tough, weight issues are tougher. Everyone wants to be the 'correct' weight, no one knows what it is and people are self-proclaimed fitness experts (No, don't look them up and down, their magic formulas only work on others *Yeah, RIGHT!*).
If you are overweight, they'll dole out tips for losing weight and if you are thin, they'll urge you to add a few kilos. Experts, these people.
While, the
plus-size women go through their share of nonsense, the smaller sizes don't have it painless either. Here is what they hear
In a packed car:"Come, we have enough (half an inch) space for you"
"Don't worry, you can sit on my lap"
What the thin girl wants to say but doesn't: Are you Ryan Gosling? If not, this option is invalid
At the gym:"But you don't need to lose weight"
What the thin girl wants to say but doesn't: Thanks for giving unsolicited advice. Maybe, you should stop flexing your judgemental muscle. Heard of staying healthy, EVER?
At a retail store:"Sorry, we don't have a smaller size. Why don't you try the kids section?"
What the thin girl wants to say but doesn't: Um, because I'm not a kid
In an auto/rickshaw:"Madam,
thoda shift
ho jaiye, kitni jagah hai... ek aur savari aa jayegi"
What the thin girl wants to say but doesn't: I don't want company
At a party:"OMG! You are so thin. I'm so jealous"
What the thin girl wants to say but doesn't: Is that a compliment?
At a restaurant:"Wow, you eat! Where does all the food go?"
What the thin girl wants to say but doesn't: Mine goes to my stomach, your's probably goes to your knees
At a family do:"
Beta, weight put on
karlo, aur achche lagoge." / "Are you unwell?"
What the thin girl wants to say but doesn't: I'm awesome and you are not
Out on a windy day:"You will fly away"
What the thin girl wants to say but doesn't: I might slip through the cracks in the floor too, anything else?
