Shiv Sena Lawmaker Allegedly Slaps Cop Who Was Part of Uddhav's Security Team

The police said the officer, Parag Jadhav, was on duty outside a hotel room where Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray was holding a meeting with some party legislators.

Nagpur: A Shiv Sena MLA Harshavardhan Jadhav has been booked for allegedly slapping a police officer who is part of Uddhav Thackeray's security detail at a hotel in Nagpur late on Wednesday.

The police said the officer, Parag Jadhav, was on duty outside a hotel room where Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray was holding a meeting with some party legislators.

Harshavardhan Jadhav reportedly tried to enter the room, and when he was stopped by the policeman, allegedly slapped him.

The legislator was not available for comment, Press Trust of India reported. Harshavardhan Jadhav is an MLA from Aurangabad in central Maharashtra.

Maharashtra's legislators are in Nagpur for the winter session of the legislature now on; Nagpur serves as a second capital.

The Shiv Sena recently joined the BJP-led government of Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra.

It's leaders have been in controversy before for their high-handedness. Earlier this year, an angry lawmaker from the Sena Rajan Vichare was caught on camera shoving a roti into the mouth of a catering supervisor who was fasting for Ramzan.

The Sena MP had then explained that he had force-fed the supervisor to protest against the "poor food" that was served to them at a government guest house in Delhi.
