Hired gun, killer of 100 people, shot dead in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: A prized contract killer, who claimed to have killed about 100 people, was shot dead in a gang war rivalry on Tuesday morning at Tila More under Sahibabad police station in Ghaziabad.

Police said Joginder, alias Jaggu Pahalwan, carried a bounty of Rs 50,000 from the Uttar Pradesh government and Rs 10,000 from Haryana police. He was shot dead at 10.30 am by three members of a rival gang.

The trio intercepted Joginder's car and shot him eight times. His driver Sandeep also took a bullet. At least 16 rounds were fired by both sides, after which the assailants fled.

"After police received a call about the shooting, they reached the spot and took the injured men to G.T.B. Hospital in Delhi where doctors declared Joginder dead. Sandeep's condition was stated to be stable," said Superintendent of Police (Rural) Jagdish Sharma.

"Joginder was arrested on August 3, 2011, and was released on bail on November 16, 2012. The rival gang has not been identified yet. Two types of weapons were used in the crime," Sharma said.

Joginder's mother said that three men had visited him in the morning, after which he left saying he was going for a court hearing. "At about 11.00 am, we received a call that he had been killed. It seems a conspiracy," she said.
