70 Kilograms Drugs Seized in Jammu; Three Arrested

Jammu: Police today recovered more than 70 kg poppy straw with the arrest of three persons in Kunjwani area in Jammu, an official said.

"Two trucks were stopped at Kunjwani and during the search of these vehicles more than 70 kg of poppy straw was recovered," he said.

The official said three people, including 2 truck drivers, were arrested.

"From one truck we recovered 40 kg of poppy straw and from another we recovered 30 kg of poppy straw that was meant to be sold outside the state," the officer said.

He said that the arrested persons have been identified as Shabir Ahmed a resident of Pulwama district, Asif Majid a resident of Bandipore and Mehraj Ahmed of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Case under various sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at the police post Gangyal," the officer said.
