Andhra Pradesh government today made it compulsory for two-wheeler riders in the state to wear helmets from August 1.
Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao gave an instruction for implementation of the new rule to the departments concerned during a meeting on road safety in Hyderabad, a Government release said today.
Mr Rao asked senior officials to initiate immediate action for implementing the guidelines of the Centre and the instructions issued by Supreme Court on road safety, it said.
The meeting discussed several measures for ensuring road safety, including the helmet rule.
